⚠️ Important Note on Accuracy

As of 25 September 2026, the 8th Central Pay Commission is still holding consultations and has not announced a fitment factor, pay matrix or allowance rates. Every 8th CPC figure on this page is a projection built from the official 7th CPC pay matrix and the scenarios discussed publicly. It is not an official government tool. Cross-check final figures with your PAO/DDO once the government notifies the revised pay rules. Official sources: 8cpc.gov.in and doe.gov.in.

Detailed Salary Structure: Level 1, Level 6 and Level 10 (2.28x)

Three common entry points, from MTS (Level 1) and Junior Engineer / Sub-Inspector (Level 6) to Group A officers (Level 10). X-class city, NPS employee.

The pattern is the same at every level. Basic pay jumps sharply, but because DA drops from 60% to 0% and HRA falls back to a base rate, the gross increase is much smaller than the basic pay jump. In-hand pay grows a little less than gross because NPS deductions rise with basic pay.

What the 8th CPC May Change in the Salary Structure

Frequently Asked Questions

What will be the 8th Pay Commission salary structure for central government employees?
The components are expected to stay the same: Basic Pay from a new pay matrix, Dearness Allowance, HRA, Transport Allowance and other allowances, minus NPS/UPS or GPF, CGEGIS and income tax. What changes is the rupee value of the matrix (set by the fitment factor) and possibly the allowance rates. The 8th CPC has not announced these yet.
How much will a Level 1 (MTS) employee get under the 8th CPC?
At the entry cell (₹18,000), basic pay would be about ₹34,600 at 1.92x, ₹41,000 at 2.28x and ₹46,300 at 2.57x. Gross salary in an X-class city would be around ₹52,200 at 2.28x, compared with about ₹36,400 today.
Will Group A, B and C classification continue?
Most likely, since it is based on the pay level of the post. Group C covers Levels 1–5, Group B roughly Levels 6–9, and Group A Level 10 and above.
Does the salary structure differ for NPS, UPS and OPS employees?
Gross pay is the same. Only deductions differ: NPS and UPS employees contribute 10% of Basic + DA, while Old Pension Scheme employees subscribe to GPF (minimum 6% of basic).
Will DA be merged with basic pay before the 8th CPC?
The Government told the Lok Sabha on 1 December 2025 that there is no proposal to merge the existing DA with basic pay. DA continues to be revised every six months until the new pay structure takes effect, when it is absorbed through the fitment factor.
