⚠️ Important Note on Accuracy

This calculator produces an estimate based on publicly discussed 8th Pay Commission fitment logic and historical Pay Commission patterns. It is not an official government tool. Always cross-check your final figures with your department's Pay & Accounts Office, DDO, or HR/establishment section once the official 8th CPC notification is published. For authoritative information, refer to dopt.gov.in.

How the Comparison Works

The 7th CPC introduced a uniform fitment factor of 2.57x when it replaced the 6th CPC pay bands with the current pay matrix. Every fresh Pay Commission repeats this exercise: your existing basic pay under the outgoing structure (here, 7th CPC) is multiplied by a new fitment factor to arrive at your basic pay under the incoming structure (here, the projected 8th CPC). This calculator simply runs that same multiplication and displays both numbers together for easy comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 7th to 8th CPC fitment factor confirmed?
No official fitment factor has been notified yet. The figures used here are illustrative estimates based on publicly discussed ranges and historical Pay Commission patterns, and will be updated once the 8th CPC report and government Resolution are published.
Why was the 7th CPC fitment factor flat at 2.57x while 8th CPC estimates vary by level?
The 7th CPC applied a single flat multiplier across all levels. Several proposals discussed for the 8th CPC suggest a graded structure that increases slightly at higher levels — this calculator uses graded, illustrative estimates to reflect that possibility, but a flat multiplier remains equally plausible until officially confirmed.
Does this comparison include DA, HRA or other allowances?
No, this is a basic-pay-only comparison. Allowances are calculated separately as a percentage of the new basic pay — try our HRA Calculator for an allowance estimate.
